things to read, stuff to do

2008-02-02

I am up. Ready to do something today. Not sure I can get Josh to go to the library book sale with me today. Doubtful. This might be the day he gets his car. We are in a slight thaw so lets hope it works out and he gets something worth driving.

Hope got on at the new Taco Johns. Yeah, where was I? Anyway, Jonah played his video games on and on until about ten then he went out with Hope. His Mom wasn't all that happy with him.

I stayed in and started Becky by Lenore Hart. Its the live and loves of Becky Thatcher from the Tom Sawyer fiction. Talk about bringing fan fiction to new heights. Its a bit in the Cold Mountain tradition. But Tom is off as a steamboat captain on the Missippi, Huck might be a Bushwacker just to get by, and Becky has married Tom's cousin Sid. All are in their late 20's now as the civil war is raging.

So in my head I've casted the movie as I've read. Katerine Heigl as Becky. But its been a toss up on the other actors. Sometimes Sid is Brian Greenberg to me. Sometimes he's Skeet Ulrich, and I can't think of anyone as Tom(maybe Eric Dane or T.R. Knight) or Huck(Maybe Zachary Levi or John Kranski) yet. I guess I haven't gotten that far in the book yet. To Jonah's Mom, Jodie Foster will always be Becky Thatcher.

Anyway, Saturday is wasting. Better make the most of it. Maybe I'll get to Michaels for a yarn sale too. We'll see if I can get a ride.
